FAQ
When is the application deadline?
ANS: The 14th day after the announcement of SPM or STPM results.
Can I use my Diploma/ Foundation scores to apply?
ANS: You can apply as long as your grades meet the minimum admission requirements for the relevant courses. If the courses listed on the official website do not show your admission qualifications, please call the relevant university/college directly.
Can I use the "trial exam" or "pre-test" results of SPM/STPM/UEC/Foundation/Diploma to apply?
ANS: No, you must submit the "actual test" or "total scores" of the relevant examinations to apply.
Do I need to register with the relevant university/college first, or should I apply for the Sin Chew Daily Education Fund first?
ANS: In fact, both can be done at the same time. If your family's financial situation can still afford the initial tuition fees, you can first register with the relevant university/college. Otherwise, apply for the Sin Chew Daily Education Fund first, wait for the interview to be successful, and then follow the instructions of the relevant university/college to complete the registration process.
I am currently studying in the second year or second semester of a diploma/degree program. Can I apply for the Sin Chew Daily Education Fund?
ANS: The Sin Chew Daily Education Fund is mainly open to applications by graduates of SPM/STPM/UEC or other equivalent qualifications. Students who are already enrolled can still try to apply, but participating universities/colleges will give priority to applicants with SPM/STPM/UEC or equivalent qualifications.
Why is there no Foundation or A-level single course option in the list?
ANS: The Sin Chew Daily Education Fund does not provide single course options for Foundation or A levels. However, some participating universities offer Foundation leading to Degree courses. Applicants can browse the course list on the official website in detail.
The course I want to apply for does not appear in the course list on the official website. Can I apply?
ANS: If there is no relevant course on the official website, it means that the participating universities/colleges do not offer the course to the Sin Chew Daily Education Fund for students to apply for.
I have received an admission letter from a foreign university. Can I apply for the Sin Chew Daily Education Fund?
ANS: The Sin Chew Daily Education Fund is a project collaborating with local Private Higher Education Institutions (PHEI). Participating Private Higher Education Institutions promise to pledge designated courses to the Sin Chew Daily Education Fund, so that students can complete higher education locally. Therefore, studying overseas is not within the scope of the Sin Chew Daily Education Fund.
Why is it not recommended to use a Hotmail account when registering?
ANS: It is not recommended to use a Hotmail email address for the following reason:
Email reception issues: Hotmail users frequently report that they are unable to receive emails we send. This may be due to Hotmail's stringent spam filtering system, which can result in legitimate emails being mistakenly classified as spam and either intercepted or deleted.
Therefore, we suggest applicants use other email services (such as Gmail, Yahoo, university or college domain emails) to register their accounts to ensure they can smoothly receive our emails and notifications.
Why can’t I see the options for some courses after I log in to the system?
ANS: If the applicant is an SPM graduate, the system is automatically set not to display the Bachelor (Degree) course option because SPM graduates have not yet reached the academic qualifications to apply for a Bachelor's course.
Besides the school principal and teachers, who else can I contact to certify copies of documents?
ANS: The penghulu (village headman), state assemblyman, oath taker or parent’s employer can certify copies of documents.

We will help you reopen your account for you to make changes. After you have completed the modification, submit the form according to the previous steps and upload the modified "Application Form" to Google Drive.
When will I know if I have been admitted for an interview and how will I be notified for the interview?
ANS: It is expected that between the third and sixth weeks after the application deadline, candidates who are admitted for interview will receive a notification (by phone, SMS, WhatsApp or email) from the relevant university/college. If no notification is received within the above period, it means that the candidate has been unsuccessful.
When can I know the interview result?
ANS: The interview result will generally be notified within about four weeks after the interview. If you are successful in obtaining the scholarship, you will receive an email notification from Sin Chew Daily.
If you do not receive a notification after more than four weeks, it means that you have not been admitted, and the unsuccessful applicants will not be notified separately.
